AMD has just released their brand new Ryzen 7000 processors and you might be wondering what all the fuss is about. So many of us are used to Intel being the only game in town when it comes to CPUs, but AMD is here to change that.
The upcoming release of AMD Zen 4 CPUs is expected to give Intel Alder Lake a run for its money in the gaming PC market later this year. We’re already hearing whispers of what team red might have in store, and it’s looking very promising.
In February, AMD debuted their new Ryzen 6000 H-series CPUs. These laptop APUs are based on the powerful Zen3+ architecture and promise excellent performance density thanks to their lightweight design and low power consumption.
AMD Ryzen 7000 Release Date

AMD’s Ryzen processors have finally managed to rise up to the top, with Intel’s Core i3 processors being left behind. Previously, the i3 series was Intel’s go-to processor, but now AMD is catching up, leaving Intel to scramble to catch up.
Currently, many reasons exist why AM4 is the best possible choice for the Ryzen 5 5800X. The AM4 socket is big enough for the new Ryzen chip.
AM4 provides support for DDR4-3200, while AM5 will only support DDR4-2133. The AM4 socket also has better power delivery, which means the chip will run at higher temperatures and perform better.
The AM4 socket is also smaller, which means it will be easier to install in PCs.
The Ryzen 7000 will be available in three different versions: the Ryzen 7 1700X, the Ryzen 7 1800X, and the Ryzen 7 1900X.
Each CPU has a different clock speed and TDP rating.
- The 1700X has a base clock speed of 3.4GHz and a boost clock speed of 3.8GHz. It has a TDP rating of 95W.

AMD Ryzen 7000 Specifications
The primary source for this information is AMD. The company confirmed at the Ryzen 6000 Series reveal at CES 2022 that Ryzen 7000 Series CPUs were in development. They also mentioned that these CPUs would use a 5nm process, and debut the upcoming Zen 4 architecture.
The processors are based on the “Zen 4” architecture and are manufactured using a 7nm process. They offer significant improvements over the previous generation of AMD processors, including up to 16 cores and 32 threads for the top-end model.
The Ryzen 7000 series is compatible with existing AM4 motherboards, although a BIOS update may be required. AMD is also offering a free CPU cooler with each processor purchase.
A brief excerpt from the January 2022 keynote was shared on the official AMD Ryzen Twitter account. This showcases the gaming performance you can expect when playing AAA games at 1080p, with all Zen 4 cores running at 5GHz apparently.
DDR5 is faster than the current DDR4 with a much higher frequency and has high potential to increase frequency.
Zen 4 will not be compatible with DDR4 RAM. Enthusiastic Citizens leaked this information.
The removal of the option to use DDR4 and Zen 4 may be a move in the right direction for AMD. It is too early to tell if this will be beneficial for them, but it could pave the way for a smooth transition to DDR5.
Even though the Zen 4 has no support for DDR4 memory, it will support the [email protected] MHz by default. So when Ryzen 7000 CPUs and 5000+MHz DDR5 kits released, you can just plug and play.
AMD Ryzen 7000 Price
We don’t know how much the Ryzen 7000 series will cost yet. That’s not surprising – AMD usually only reveals pricing at the launch event. However, the suggested pricing for the latest Ryzen 5000 Series desktop CPUs gives us an idea of how much they’ll cost.
Here are some estimates:

- Ryzen 7 7800X – $439

AMD RYZEN 7000 ZEN 4 BENCHMARKS
The latest AMD Ryzen Zen 4 CPU benchmarks suggest significant improvements in IPC of up to 25%, with an overall performance boost of around 40% over Zen 3.
This is likely not too far from the truth, as the first-generation Ryzen CPUs saw a massive 52% IPC gain over the previous Excavator processors.
